(My pick to play my MC would be Jennifer Lawrence) |
Here are some of the things I completed last week:
- After two years, I finally named my MS: Givin' Up The Ghost
- I added a description of Givin' Up The Ghost, which you'll find under the Writing tab above.
- I created a Playlist for Givin' Up The Ghost, see Playlist tab above.
- Researched actors who could play my characters in the movie (gotta be prepared, lol!).
- Created a rough draft of my book pitch for the writer's conference in April.
- Researched business cards for the writer's conference in April.
- Researched website information should I decide to use my domain name, gwengardner.com.
What are you doing to have fun with your writing? What are you doing to get an agent/publisher? What are you doing to promote your book?
As always, I welcome any advice you have on: conferences, pitching, business cards, website, description, playlist recommendations, etc.

I already have a publisher. But, here are things I do with my manuscript for fun: I love finding the locations of my character's houses on google maps. I love decorating their homes and picking out their cars.
I'm working on getting an agent. I'm very excited.
GO you for getting all of your stuff together, and making your MS a real book!
I haven't even thought that far ahead, but at least I've progressed from writing to revising :-)
Clarissa, that's a great idea! It sounds like fun, and I'm sure it helps with description in your novel, too.
Melanie, thank you for the support. What are you doing to get an agent?
Sarah, I'm still in editing, too, but since I've signed up for a writer's conference with a chance to pitch my book, I'm sort of forced into plowing ahead! Probably a good thing, lol:)
I'm knocking my work into shape as I plan to have completed three novels this year plus one pocket novel. Two of the books are written but I'm not happy with them the third has its synopsis and two chapters completed I'm getting it ready for a competition so I'm hoping to win 25k advance with it.
I've got my buiness cards made already as I like to hand them out a book festivals... I believe wholeheartedly in forward planning
Hi Gwen, that's a great start to thinking about your MS as a book. I'm so jealous about your conference adventures. There aren't a whole lot of conferences around where I live (Melbourne, Aus). Good luck getting everything ready for it!
Jarmara, you are so ambitious! It sounds like you got it all under control:) Actually, I really wish I could put my MS aside and start my next book and then go back and look at it with fresh eyes. But I really want to pitch it in April. Oh well. Good luck with your competition! Also, what do you have on your business cards re: information and design.....
Sari, thanks for stopping by. The conference is only just over an hour from me, so it's awesome that I don't have to travel, really. But I will be staying nearby so I don't have 2.5 hours of driving for those 3 days. I'm really excited about it!!!
