How Important Is Age-Defying To You?

Fountain of Youth by Lucas Cranach the Elder
What do you all think about this age-defying, anti-wrinkle world we now live in?

Of course, people have been searching for the fountain of youth for time immemorial. Even though realizing that's not a reality, some people go to great lengths to "appear" youthful.
You know, taking care of yourself and looking the best you can is admirable.

But when did age become such a bad thing? So bad that you have to, or are compelled to, "defy" it? At one time, age was respected and admired. It meant wisdom. You earned your wrinkles.

Plastic surgeons and pharmaceuticals are making a bundle because we're not comfortable in our own skin.

I don't mind saying that I really don't care about my wrinkles! Sure, I wouldn't mind looking youthful again, but I don't want to go back. It's just not that important to me.

Am I a freak of nature because I don't care?

How do you all feel about winkles and age-defying beauty products?

I'm happy with how I look now. I earned those grey hairs!

Well...

I won't get BOTOX or plastic surgery, but do say hello to Miss Clairol every now and then. ;)

Okay, I'll admit, I want to be thirty again, but not for the obvious reasons.

A man at thirty is at his prime, not a kid anymore, but an adult, confident and professional.

However, I am happy with who I am now, wrinkles and all. But the grey I have to live without ... it looks hideous on me. LOL. Not older just not right.

I have a sprinkling of grey and like it.

One of the things that shocked me when I first moved to the Cote d'Azur was how FEW older people I saw with natural hair coloring! Life gets better with each year, and I am fine with the aging.

No, you are absolutely not a freak of nature! Granted, I'm still in my early twenties so maybe I'm a bit naive on this subject, but I've never been too bothered by the thought of aging.

I'm with you, there. I would hate to be uncomfortable in my own skin. Wrinkles and all those little saggy bits are sad but inevitable. Real beauty and the appearance of youth comes from inside - act silly and you look younger is my theory! :-)

Alex, I earned mine, too!

Linda, I haven't met Miss Clairol yet, but I might. I know that once I do I have to keep it up!

Michael, the same goes for women at 30. But whereas men look distingued with gray hair, women just look like grandma. And I'm sure your gray hair looks fine! And you look like you're in great shape!

Joanna, it was the same in San Diego. Women don't wear gray hair. In Colorado, though, where I now live, a lot of women go au naturale.

Caitlin, thanks and good for you!

Excuse Me, yes, I still feel just as silly as I always have.
